INRA's Metaprogrammes for Global Agronomic Research

May 6, 2011

The French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) Deputy Director Francois Houllier has recently launched ‘Metaprogrammes' that would ensure interdisciplinary and coherence in the research programs carried out by the Institute. The two complementary goals of the program include ‘to respond to major scientific challenges by coordinating the work of researchers in cognitive and applied research and to anticipate and support the programmes of research funding agencies in these areas in France, Europe and elsewhere in the world'.

The program has an international dimension since research areas will cover global challenges such as climate change. It may also take various forms such as establishing a network among teams on different continents that could contribute to or promote world scale initiatives.
