FSANZ Considers Approval of GM Soybean for Food

August 10, 2007

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) recently released its proposed changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Among the changes being considered are approval of a genetically modified (GM) soybean, new limits for chemical and antibiotic residues in food, a preservative for processed meat products, and a processing aid to reduce the formation of acrylamide in baked foods. The addition of GM soybean would raise the total number of approved GM food to 34.
