Is Ecologically Intensive Agriculture a Pipe Dream?

A four page report of the two round tables on the question "How can we build a form of agriculture capable of feeding nine billion people by the year 2050, providing them with energy and biomaterials while preserving the environment?" is recently published in the CIRAD website. The roundtables conducted in March 2 at the 2010 Paris International Agricultural Show focused on (1) the existing solutions already being used by certain farmers and (2) the support policies needed to reform agriculture. The views of the farmers and of Michel Griffon, Deputy Director General of the Agence national de la Recherche were also presented.
