5th ITEC Training Program on Biotech Applications and Its Regulation

The Energy Research Institute (TERI), India is organizing the 5th Training Programme on "Applications of Biotechnology and its Regulation" from 25 July to 12 August 2011 under the Indian Technical Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme and Special Commonwealth African Assistance Plan (SCAAP) Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The three week long program will focus on agriculture biotechnology, techniques and status of acceptance of new technologies. The course aims to sensitize researchers, regulators, and policy makers on various issues in research and development in biotechnology. The program will provide a basic understanding of biofuels, traditional and advanced biotechnology, environmental and bio-ethical concerns of new technologies, legal framework for bio safety regulations, and risk assessment and management. Issues related to sustainable agriculture through application of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticide, as well as food safety and impact of IPRs on future agricultural development.
