Call for Comment for the Controlled Release of Herbicide Tolerant GM Canola
March 2, 2012 |
Australia's Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) is currently assessing License Application DIR 114 from Pioneer Hi Bred Australia Pty Ltd (Pioneer) for a limited and controlled release of canola genetically modified for herbicide tolerance. The Agency is thus calling for comments on the prepared Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plant (RARMP).
The trial will be conducted to evaluate the agronomic performance of the GM canola under field conditions in growing areas of Australia between May 2012 and February 2016. Sites are to be selected from 127 possible local government areas (LGAs) in Victoria, NSW and Western Australia. Submissions should be received by close of business on 10 April 2012 at the OGTR.
