Chinese Ag Vice Minister Meets with International Experts

Jiayang Li, vice minister of agriculture and head of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), met with Percy Misika, North Korea, Mongolia, and China representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Brett Rierson, office head of the UN World Food Program (WFP) in China, and Yinhong Sun, office head of China's affair of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to discuss collaboration on agricultural science and technology.
As a national research organization, CAAS is making great contribution to animal/crop variety development, animal disease prevention and control, sustainable utilization of agricultural resources, biotechnology, agriculture information and agricultural economic policy.
Minister Jiayang put forward some points to be strengthened: undertaking an international cooperation project and joint international conference, and organizing technique transfer dialogues, and workshops for developing countries. Representatives from FAO, WFP, and IFAD said that China's experiences are very important to other developing countries, and the collaboration with CAAS will contribute to achieving the UN Millennium development goal.
