HT Soybean Highest Adopted Biotech Crop in the U.S.

The annual USDA Overview of Genetically Engineered Crops in the U.S. for the period 1996 to June 2011 has just been published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. As of June 2011, herbicide tolerant soybean is still the widely adopted biotech crop at 94%, followed by Bt cotton (75%), HT cotton (73%), HT corn (72%) and Bt corn (65%). Tables on the actual acreage planted on biotech crops reveal that soybean and cotton have been the most widely adopted GE crops in the U.S., followed by corn.
