Biodiversity and Sustainable Diets: An International Scientific Symposium
July 30, 2010 |
The International Scientific Symposium on Biodiversity and Sustainable Diets will be held in Rome on November 3-5, 2010. Bioversity International and the Food and Agriculture Organization will host the symposium entitled Biodiversity and Sustainable Diets: United Against Hunger. This three-day event will focus on the global challenge of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation, considering their impact on poverty and health. The organizers hope to obtain a clear understanding of what constitutes a "sustainable diet" and to formulate recommendations for promoting and applying the concept to different agro-ecological zones and ways to benefit the rural poor.
