Dairyland Seed Introduces New Hybrid Alfalfa Line
July 23, 2010 |
HybriForce-2420/Wet Gen-2, the new second generation hybrid specifically designed for tough soil types was developed by Dairyland Seed and will be available next planting season. This new hybrid alfalfa line offers a 5 percent yield advantage over the first generation HybriForce-420/Wet and expresses a higher degree of the branch root trait.
Alfalfa breeder Steve Wagner added that the line "enables more of the root system to stay above the water table and better anchors the plant in the ground when freezing and thawing occurs." Importantly, the hybrid has high resistance to the six major alfalfa disease and resistance to Aphanomyces root rot (Race 2).
