Malaysian Biotech Corp Releases BioInvestors White Paper on Agribiotech
August 7, 2009 |
Agriculture is the third engine of growth for Malaysians after the manufacturing and services sectors. It has also earned the importance of being the first thrust under the National Biotechnology Policy (NBP) where biotechnology is identified as a tool to transform and enhance the value creation of this sector. Since the launch of the NBP, various efforts have been undertaken by the government, mainly by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp) to realize the goals of the policy.
The latest addition to these efforts is a White Paper with comprehensive information on the agriculture sector, giving an overview of the global and local scenario. This paper provides first-hand information on various aspects related to the agri-biotechnology sector for potential investors and collaborators. Some of the areas covered are crops, natural products, livestock, and marine and aquaculture. The paper discusses key success factors, opportunities, and R&D in this field.
