Solanaceous Symposium in Indonesia

A symposium on the theme "High quality solanaceous vegetables by exploration of natural biodiversity" will be held on 6 November 2008 at IPB International Convention Centre, Bogor, Indonesia. It is being organized by the Research Centre for Bioresource and Biotechnology, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia to implement the INDOSOL program, a part of the Scientific Programme Indonesia-Netherlands (SPIN). The topics will include: policy and strategy for solanaceous crops in Indonesia; insect resistance in solanaceous vegetables; cellular and molecular characterization of cacao pod development and its relation to cacao pod borer resistance; and resistance to Ralstonia solanacearum in eggplant (Solanum melongena).
