Former UP Head Cites Biotech's Role in Asean Integration

The Philippines can compete in the world trade for feed corn, according to Dr. Emil Q. Javier, former president of the University of the Philippines. He stressed that "new-found vigor and competitiveness of the yellow corn feed sector" is the country's hope in the intense competition following the Asean market integration. Javier explained that the Philippines has achieved near self-sufficiency in yellow corn feed because of the massive adoption of biotech corn by Filipino farmers.
