Monsanto Allowed to Extend Bollgard Planting in Australia

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has granted Monsanto Australia Ltd. a permit to extend the Bollgard II planting windows for this season. The decision was made in response to the significant reduction in areas of early cotton plantings due to drought conditions. In addition, Monsanto has also been given approval to extend Bollgard planting should there be a drastic change in the seasonal conditions in the late spring. APVMA has consulted with the Office of Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and other relevant state government agencies in making the decisions.
