Agri-Biotech and Biosafety Conference in Central Asia

The Regional Conference on Agri-Biotechnology and Biosafety is to be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 27-28 November, 2007. The conference aims to increase awareness about biotechnology and discuss related issues about agriculture and the main crops grown in Central Asia. During the event, challenges and opportunities of the safe use of biotechnology in agriculture will be discussed including applications relevant to the seed industry such as biosafety, IPR, access and benefit sharing, GMO detection and risk communication. The conference is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Environment Protection, Republic of Tajikistan, Seed Associations of the Republic of Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic, and Central Asian Seed Association.
