New Herbicide Tolerant Canola Receives Canadian Regulatory Approval
The new herbicide tolerant canola, Monsanto's next generation Roundup Ready® trait has been given approval by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) Plant Biosafety Office and Animal Feed Division for feed last June 8, 2012 and for food by Health Canada on June 18, 2012.
The new canola variety will be marketed under the brand name TruFlex Roundup Ready™ canola that would provide enhanced weed control and increased flexibility. There will be a wider window of application and greater flexibility to utilize a higher rate of Roundup® brand herbicides to provide more effective control of perennial weeds and tough-to-control annual weeds in their canola fields to maximize yield potential.
