EU JRC Notification for Field Trial of GM Sugarbeet in Sweden and Germany

The EU JRC announced two notifications for the deliberate release of genetically modified H7-1 sugarbeet in field trials in Sweden and in Germany. The H7-1 sugarbeet expresses the CP4 EPSPS protein derived from Agrobacterium sp. strain CP4 which provides tolerance to glyphosate. The field releases will be conducted to evaluate the Roundup efficacy and agronomic performance of H7-1 RR sugarbeet in Kävlinge, Lund, Staffanstorp, Svedela och Kristianstad, Sweden from January 2012 to December 2016; and in Northeim/Stöckheim and Ausleben/Üplingen in Germany from March 2012 to December 2018.
