November 4, 2011

A learning center to educate farmers about genetically modified crops in Pakistan is in the planning stage.  Aamir Mahmood Mirza of Monsanto Pakistan told a group of agricultural experts that there is a plan to convert its Manga Mandi research farm into a learning center for farmers.

Mirza said that trials for genetically modified maize are being carried out by the company in Pakistan. He expressed optimism that the biotech crop would eventually be commercialized subject to approval from the authorities concerned.
