Bangladesh Agri Minister Calls for Biotech

August 17, 2007

Bangladesh needs the help of scientists, particularly those involved in biotechnology, to help the country attain food security. This was stressed by Agriculture Minister CS Karim during the week-long Annual Workshop for Central Research Review and Program Development held at the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) in Dhaka. He added that biotechnology research can also address food production problems due to water logging and floods.

The workshop, attended by about 300 scientists and members of the academe, was also attended by Executive Chairman  MN Alam, and the Director Generals of the Department of Agricultural Extension and BARI.
