Senesco Technologies Agreement with Monsanto

August 17, 2007

US based Senesco Technologies Inc. has signed a license agreement with Monsanto Company, which will enable Monsanto to incorporate the company's proprietary yield and stress technology into corn and soybeans. Senesco believes that its technology can be used to develop superior crop varieties without any modification other than delaying natural plant senescence.

In a press release issued by Monsanto Steve Padgette, the company’s vice president of biotechnology, said that Monsanto’s focus over the past decade has been on herbicide tolerance and insect resistance. Looking to the future, he said that the focus will move to increasing yield and tolerance to environmental stress, and they are excited to work with Senesco to accomplish these goals.
