ICAFS20100 - Feeding Asia in the 21st Century: Building Urban-Rural Alliances
November 19, 2010 |
The first International Conference on Asian Food Security 2011 (ICAFS2011) will be held in Singapore from 10 to 12 August 2011. The conference is organized by the Center for Non-Traditional Security (NTS) Studies at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the South East Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), The Philippines.
The conference, themed "Feeding Asia in the 21st Century: Building Urban-Rural Alliances", will bring together key public, private and civil society players in food security to analyze, discuss and chart directions for the four basic dimensions of food security: availability, physical access, economic access and utilization.
The conference's two components -- a half-day High Level Forum on Food Security (HLFFS) and a two-day Conference on Asian Food Security (CAFS) – will feature invited, internationally-recognized speakers. Contributed poster papers and exhibits for two 2-hour Knowledge Marketplace sessions, on any of the four Food Security Dimensions (Food Availability, Physical Access, Economic Access, Food Utilization) are also welcome, with abstracts due on 1 March 2011. An additional four hours is allocated on 12 August 2011 for post-Conference workshops which will be hosted by participating organizations.
Technical enquiries may be made to Dr. Marga Escaler (margarita.escaler@gmail.com) or Professor Paul Teng (paul.teng@nie.edu.sg). To find out more about ICAFS2011 and how to register your interest in the conference, see http://www.rsis.edu.sg/nts/article.asp?id=163
