Forum on Agricultural Technology and Investment in Indonesia
October 22, 2010 |
A Forum on Agricultural Technology and Investment was held on 6-7 October 2010 at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Indonesia. This event was jointly sponsored by the United States and Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Agriculture and aimed to support Indonesia's policy goals for new agricultural technologies; identify areas for facilitating two-way trade through post harvest investment; and enhance linkages between agricultural universities and research centers.
The conference was participated in by 200 Indonesian and U.S. representatives from private sector companies, government, and universities. U.S. companies have expressed their willingness to work with Indonesian partners to expand Indonesia's food production and enhance food security through trade and investment. The U.S. supports Indonesia's efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change in the agricultural sector through new investments, techniques, and technologies, including biotech crops that enhance the sustainability of crops and rural incomes.
