The Gene Revolution - GM Crops and Farming Reality
October 15, 2010 |
The AgriFood Awareness Australia presents the first of a series of invited guest opinion pieces on biotechnology. To launch this, they have chosen Australia's former Chief Scientist Dr. Jim Peacock in an essay entitled The Gene Revolution - GM Crops and Farming Reality. In the essay, Dr. Peacock calls all sectors of Australia's grain industry to be on top of GM technology. Dr. Peacock also gave an overview of the biotech industry and its impact in the country, aptly supported by facts and figures. He ended by saying that, "The reality of today's farming is that scientists are working for the betterment of society and GM crops are simply the next major agricultural technology."
