
Philippine Biosafety Systems, Organic Agriculture and Co-Existence

ISAAA Inc., in partnership with Winrock International through the Boosting Food Safety in the Philippines (B-SAFE) Project, will hold the webinar on Philippine Biosafety Systems, Organic Agriculture and Co-Existence on June 28, 2022, at 10 AM (GMT+8). The registration is now open.
The discussions will include:
- Managing Environmental and Health Risks: The Philippine Biosafety Systems with Focus on the Safety and Nutritional Benefits of Golden Rice
- Organic Farming and Co-Existence with Genetic Modification (GM) and Applications of GM Technology in the Provinces of Bohol and Negros Occidental
The online event is the second part of a webinar series and will provide an overview of the Philippine biosafety systems and how Golden Rice and Bt eggplant went through the process of biosafety approval. It will also discuss the Philippine Organic Act and its implication on GM and the practice of co-existence. The webinar will feature Ms. Ma. Lorelie U. Agbagala of the National Committee on Biosafety of the Philippines and the Biosafety Committee of the Department of Science and Technology in the Philippines, as well as Dr. Saturnina C. Halos of the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines. ISAAA Inc. Executive Director Dr. Rhodora Romero-Aldemita will moderate the discussions.
