Report Forecasts Biotech Contribution in Food Production
June 25, 2014 |
The biotech food production market will attain US$101.96 billion this year, according to Visiongain report titled Biotechnology in Food Production Market Forecast 2014-2024 published in ReportLinker. The projected increase in adoption of biotech food is attributed to the rising global food needs. There is also a significant change in the food system as compared to the situation 20 or 30 years ago. People are now geared towards inhabiting densely populated areas, away from where food is produced. Thus, there is a need for biotechnologies that will provide better yields and overall increases in food supply.
Though biotechnology has significantly contributed to increasing food production, barriers to acceptance remain tricky. Thus, Visiongain recommends meaningful dialogues on the challenges and benefits of biotech to expel controversy and strengthen public and private partnerships.
