California Voters Say No to Labeling Genetically Engineered Food
November 14, 2012 |
Proposition 37, which calls for mandatory labeling of genetically enginereed food and products was rejected by California voters during the November 6 election. Voters favored the non-approval of the proposition at 53.1% compared to the Yes voters which garnered 46.9% of votes. "California voters clearly saw through Proposition 37 and rejected higher food costs, more lawsuits and more bureaucracy," said Henry I. Miller, a research fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution think tank and a key spokesman for the No campaign on its television spots.
