Workshop to Explore Policy Considerations for Gene Editing in Asia and Australia
ISAAA Inc., BioTrust Global, the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Center (MABIC), Murdoch University, and the National Seed Association Malaysia will hold the workshop Policy Considerations for Gene Editing: The Asian and Australian Perspective at Sunway Clio Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from August 23 to 25, 2022. EFSA: Five-event GM Stack Maize and Subcombinations as Safe as Non-GM Maize
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO Panel) has published their assessment on the safety of five-event stack genetically modified (GM) herbicide tolerant and insect resistant maize MON 89034 × 1507 × MIR162 × NK603 × DAS-40278-9. The Scientific Opinion is published based on the application EFSA-GMO-NL-2018-151 under Regulation (EC) No. 1829/2003 received from Dow AgroSciences LLC.

Vietnamese Government Push for Agbiotechnology to Help Mitigate Climate Change Effects
ISAAA Inc., in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service Hanoi (USDA FAS Hanoi) and Vietnam's Agricultural Genetics Institute (AGI), held the webinar Crop Biotechnology for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation on August 11, 2022 via Zoom. The target audience were government officials working on climate change programs at Vietnam's Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. They were also joined by scientists, researchers, academics, media practitioners, and industry representatives.

Synthetic Genes Found to Modify Root Structures and Increase Plant Resiliency
Researchers from the University of Stanford designed a series of synthetic genetic circuits that gave them control over the decisions made by different kinds of plant cells and used these to grow plants with modified root structures to help in nutrient and water absorption. Aside from the root system, the synthetic genes can also potentially modify leaf structures that can adapt to changing environmental conditions.
