India and Brazil Sign Pacts to Boost Science and Biotechnology

At the recently concluded BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Summit in New Delhi, India's President Manmohan Singh and his Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rouseff held bilateral talks on March 30, 2012. The two presidents signed six pacts including one that will ensure closer cooperation in science and biotechnology between the two countries.

Under the Brazilian initiative "Science Without Borders", the two countries signed the pact that will send Brazilian students and young scientists to India. President Singh said that India and Brazil share common perspectives on environmental issues and wished Brazil success in hosting the Rio+20 Conference in June this year.
