Genetically Modified Food: More Knowledge, More Purchase

September 9, 2011

People are more willing to purchase genetically modified foods (GMF) when they understand what it is about while those with less information easily get worried or fear GMF. These are the findings of the research conducted by Yu Ting from China Agriculture University. The research report Investigation and Analysis on Cognition of Genetically Modified Food is published in the Chinese journal Forum on Science and Technology.

Yu and her colleagues used questionnaires and in-depth interviews to analyze the relationship between cognition and purchase intention for GMF. The authors pointed out the importance of rational thinking in transforming attitudes towards GMF.
