EC Committed to Turning Innovation Vision into Reality
June 17, 2011 |
The European Commission is committed to boost funding for innovation. At a major conference in Brussels, Maire Geoghegan-Quinn, Commissioner for Research Innovation and Science, outlined Europe's direction on the future Strategic Framework (CSF) for research and innovation. "It is clear that Europe is facing an innovation emergency. We must prioritize innovation to ensure that we don't fall behind our competitors."
The CFS, according to EuropaBio, the European Association for Bioindustries, has the potential to stimulate research and innovation to boost competitiveness and seek solutions to challenges such as food security, climate change, and fuel shortages.
"The Framework Program is an important means of funding for research in biotechnology enterprises," said Tom Saylor, chair of EuropaBio's SME platform.
