
King Abdullah Awarded FAO's Agricola Medal

King Abdullah Bin Abd-al-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia was awarded the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Agricola Medal by FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf at a ceremony at the Royal Palace in Mecca. The King was recognized for his support in improving world food security as well as for his contribution to agricultural development in Saudi Arabia over the last decade.
The King has contributed to several initiatives in agriculture outside his country to tackle the problem of world hunger. The number of FAO technical cooperation projects in Saudi Arabia increased during King Abdullah's rule, to $62 million.
