ISAAA Exhibit@WFP Symposium-the 2009 Borlaug Dialogue

October 2, 2009

The World Food Prize (WFP) Symposium, popularly known as "the Borlaug Dialogue" 2009 will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, USA on Oct 14-16, 2009 and will focus on "Food, Agriculture and National Security in a Globalized World". The 2009 Borlaug Dialogue is one of USA's foremost conferences on international agriculture and food policy organised by the World Food Prize Foundation during the week when World Food Day is celebrated worldwide on 16th October each year.

This year's dialogue will celebrate the life and achievements of Dr. Norman Borlaug as the conference will be held just a month after the passing of the symposium's namesake and inspiration. It is expected to draw several hundred policymakers from industry, NGO officials, agriculture and science experts from around the world. The dialogue will address topics including: threats to agricultural yields, as global population climbs to 9 billion; climate change and ecological challenges; the role of gender in food security; and agricultural development, in conflict and crisis areas.

ISAAA invites all participants to the ISAAA exhibit in the exhibition area to discuss the role that technology can play in improving agricultural productivity, enhancing income and lives of rural people, ensuring food security and achieving sustainable agriculture development.
