Chambers is PBS Director

Dr. Judith Chambers has been appointed Director of the Program for Biosafety Systems (PBS) of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) effective July 27, 2009. She has extensive experience in the fields of biotechnology and biosafety. She has served as Director of International Government Affairs at Monsanto Company, and as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she was responsible for co-developing the first public-private sector agency program on agricultural biotechnology (ABSP). PBS ushers in a second phase of activities (2008-2013), and will develop functional biosafety systems in key partner countries in Africa and Southeast Asia.
