New Book on Biotech's Potential to Improve Seed Composition

June 18, 2009

The Crop Science Society of America has published a new book "Modification of Seed Composition to Promote Health and Nutrition." It contains the most up-to-date information on biotechnological improvements of seed composition from some of the world's leading scientists in the field. The book can serve as a textbook for students as well as a primer for scientists, according to Hari Krishnan, book editor and researcher at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service. Krishnan wrote a chapter on the book entitled "Sulfur Assimilation and Cysteine Biosynthesis in Soybean Seeds: Towards Engineering Sulfur Amino Acid Content."
