China Oks Monsanto’s Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans

China has given the regulatory approval to Monsanto for the importation of Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans. It is the largest buyer of U.S. soybeans, accounting for an estimated 38 percent of U.S. soybean exports in 2007.
Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans are the second generation of the Roundup Ready technology farmers have been using in soybeans since 1996. Monsanto says that the technology has the same effective weed control, simplicity and flexibility benefits of the Roundup Ready system and it significantly increases soybean yield potential.
