Biotechnology Industries: Potential Champions of Global Health?

September 5, 2008

India and China’s biotechnology companies have made major progress toward establishing research innovation-based health biotechnology sectors, says an article published in the Journal Health Affairs. The article authored by Sarah Freeman and her associates in the McLaughlin-Rotman Center for Global Health and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation discuss the evolution of business strategies in the two countries, the different stages on how to start-up in the local market, securing domestic and international tools for a sustainable focus on global health, and future challenges. The article hopes to highlight the fact that domestic biotechnology firms can play important role as suppliers of products and innovations for global health needs.
