Klima ing Yátu! (Klima loves the Earth!)
Klima, the storybook developed by ISAAA Inc. to highlight the role of biotechnology in climate change mitigation, is now available in Kapampangan!
Klima tells the story of a young girl who embarks on an adventure to find answers about caring for the Earth amid climate change. With a magical pocket mirror from her Art teacher, Klima glimpses future climate scenarios. With the help of her mother, a rice scientist, she learns about biotechnology and its wonders in helping protect our planet.
Designed for children ages 6 to 9, the storybook is authored by Kristine Grace N. Tome, Manager of the Global Knowledge Center on Biotechnology at ISAAA Inc., and illustrated by Philippine-based freelance illustrator Winnie Glendore Abarra. Edwin Camaya, a freelance writer, member of the Kapampangan cultural organization Akademyang Kapampángan, and administrator of the Kapampángan Wikipedia, contributed the Kapampangan translation.
In addition to the original English version, Klima has been translated into Filipino, Cebuano, and Ilocano. Over 3,000 copies were distributed online and in print. In 2025, the UP League of Agricultural Biotechnology Students featured Klima in an interactive book-reading session with kids in Quezon Province, Philippines. The read-aloud video (English) has also reached over 3,700 views on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
