Norman Boulaug Hall of Laureates
February 15, 2008 |
Efforts are being done to restore one of Iowa’s historic building, the Des Moines Public Library Building, into the Norman E. Borlaug Hall of Laureates. The Hall will be a permanent center to recognize the achievements of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Norman Borlaug and past World Food Prize laureates. The building will serve as a Center to hold the World Food Prize International Symposium where experts from over 30 countries and 33 states discuss food and agricultural issues.
In addition, the Center will serve as a home for the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute which brings together youth from rural and urban environments in the Midwest and from around the world to discuss issues involved in countering worldwide hunger and malnutrition through sustainable agricultural development.
