December 7, 2023 |
BioteKomiks is a comic strip-making contest that focuses on the impact of Pinoy Biotek in the perspective of Filipino artists. It was organized by ISAAA Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Biotech Program (DA Biotech). The awarding of winners was conducted on December 6, 2023, at Bayview Hotel, Manila, as a part of the Christmas event of the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines.
More than 30 participants creatively demonstrated their perspectives on the benefits of Pinoy Biotek on the country's agriculture and fisheries through a four-panel comic strip. The top 3 artworks in each category (professional and amateur) were exhibited during the event.
The top three winners in the amateur category consist of Daryl B. Ceribo from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Hershey A. Balan from National University Laguna, and Jean Vollerie Regalado Boyles from Maranatha Christian Academy of Imus. Meanwhile, the top three winners in the professional category consist of Alexis Raphael L. Moreno (a freelance artist), Bladimer C. Usi from The Manila Times and Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas, and Kevin Ray Valentino (a freelance artist). The winners were awarded with certificates and cash prizes.
