Calls to Comment on OGTR Application Forms for GM Plant Field Trials
May 2, 2013 |
A new application form specifically for limited and controlled release or field trial of GM plants has been recently developed by the Australian Office of the Gene Technology Regulator. Dealings involving intentional release (DIR) has been conducted using one application form covering plants, animals or other organisms, or for commercial or experimental purposes.
Realizing that commercial and limited and controlled release applications for plants require different information, the OGTR proposed to have a separate form for plants. This will allow the science-related questions to be tailored to the specific information required for risk analysis of each application type.
