Farmers Say GM Crops Give Them Competitive Edge

Tom Billington, farming since 1970 in south Twin Falls, Idaho, said that for farmers to survive, they must adapt to modern times and technology. His farm got a boost with the use of genetically modified (GM) seeds which he said helped him stay competitive in a demanding industry.
Billington is among many farmers in southern Idaho planting GM crops. He said that even though GM seeds are more expensive, but the output is better, citing that he can grow more crops now, such as alfalfa and corn in one season, and he sprays once or twice a year only, instead of five.
