AUSVEG National Convention

April 17, 2013

The national convention of AUSVEG which is the national peak industry body representing Australia's 9,000 vegetable and potato growers will be held on 30 May to 1 June at Jupiters Gold Coast. Experts from all over the globe will be featured to provide participants with food production technologies for the future.

Experts will discuss among other things innovative solutions to water sustainability using hydro membranes by Mr. Yalman a. Khan; application of synthetic biology in developing super plants with resilient and prolific plant growth from Prof. Lars Nielson of the Australian Institutes for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology; and a presentation on plant symbiosis by Dr. Rusty Rodriguez.

"These technologies sound like they belong in Star Trek, but in reality, they are being developed right now and when they are adopted, it is hoped they will allow Australian growers to ‘live long and prosper'," said AUSVEG Senior Communications Officer, Hugh Gurney.
