Herbicide Tolerant, High Yielding, and Stress Tolerant Alfalfa Ready for Field Testing
October 24, 2012 |
The first phase of a collaborative project between S&W Seed Company and Forage Genetics International to introduce the Genuity® Roundup Ready® trait, into one of S&W's highest yielding, salt tolerant, non-dormant alfalfa seed varieties has been completed. The researchers are now gearing up to commence field trials to confirm agronomic performance and trait efficacy. Once the trial is successful and results meet the regulatory guidelines, S&W will start the seed increase of the materials for commercialization purposes. Meanwhile, a second S&W variety is being introgressed with Genuity® Roundup Ready® trait by FGI for anticipated field trials in the next twelve months.
