Bolivia Gov't to Allow Expanded Use of GM Foods

President Evo Morales of Bolivia has sent Congress a measure to ease the use of genetically modified foods. At present, GM seeds were allowed only for some export-oriented soy crops. Cabinet Minister Carlos Romero said that the law "will be broadened to other products" to increase the country's food production.

Commercial use of biotech crops is still pending until a committee determines the crops that do not have negative effects on health and environment.
