Biotechnology in Italy, a FAS-GAIN report discusses the current profitable biotechnology industry situation in the country in the fields of medical, agricultural, industrial, mixtures of these categories, as well as on genomics, proteomics and enabling technologies. In 2010, biotech industry increased by 6% with the addition of 6 new companies in the market. It now ranks number three in Europe in terms of the number of pure biotech companies.
