ISAAA releases two new documents "Adoption and Impact of Bt Cotton in India, 2002 to 2010", and "Socio-Economic and Farm Level Impact of Bt Cotton in India" in the series of publications to mark the 10th year of Bt cotton cultivation in India. The series "Celebrating a Decade of Bt Cotton in India" will feature comprehensive overview of adoption, spread and socio-economic and farm level impact of Bt cotton in India from 2002-2011.

The document "Adoption and Impact of Bt Cotton in India, 2002 to 2010" includes statistics on the adoption of single and multiple gene Bt cotton hybrids; adoption of Bt cotton by major states in India as well as number of farmers adopting Bt cotton hybrids from 2002 to 2010. It also features charts and figures on the cotton hectarage, production and yield in India as well as export and import of cotton in India from 2002 to 2010.

On the other hand, "Socio-economic and Farm Level Impact of Bt Cotton in India, 2002 to 2010" features a legion of referenced and compelling independent studies that confirm Bt cotton has transformed cotton production in India by decreasing insecticide applications and through welfare benefits that contributed to the alleviation of poverty for 6.3 million small and resource-poor farmers in 2010 alone. It also summarizes the twelve studies conducted by public institutes on the socio-economic and farm level benefits of Bt cotton based on the data generated during the pre-commercialization and post commercialization of Bt cotton in India.
