GM Crop Production in Canada: Agronomic, Ecological, and Environmental Considerations

June 10, 2011

The Americas Journal of Plant Science and Biotechnology released a review on the GM crop production in Canada written by Bin Zhu of Environment Canada and Bao-Luo Ma of the Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Center. Using a balanced approach to evaluate agronomic, ecological, and environmental benefits and issues, the review summarizes the findings of various studies about major GM crop production in Canada such as canola, maize, and soybean, as well as the two main GM traits of herbicide tolerance and insecticidal toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis.
