U.S. FDA Consultation Process for More Nutritious GM Soybean Completed
January 28, 2011 |
Monsanto's Vistive Gold soybeans has been given a notification by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that the biotechnology consultation process has been completed. This consultation process is one of the key regulatory steps to allow for full commercial introduction of Vistive Gold soybeans. The genetically modified soybean contains low-saturate, high-oleic trait for the production of foods made with soybean oil which have lower saturated fat levels and low levels of trans fat.
"Vistive Gold soybeans will give farmers an opportunity to produce nutritionally improved soybean oil for food companies and consumers," Joe Cornelius, Monsanto's global technology lead for food quality traits said.
