CIMMYT Proposals for New Maize and Wheat Mega Programs

June 11, 2010

The International Maize and Wheat Center (CIMMYT) has recently developed the Maize and Wheat Mega Programs, another firm strategy to help improve food security and provide affordable wheat and maize to the poor amidst increasing demands and climate change, at the same time protecting the environment. These Mega Programs aim to reformulate and expand the interactions of research and development partners to generate results-oriented maize and wheat research schemes.

CIMMYT has drafted proposals of the Mega Programs, together with other Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Centers- International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). The proposals are submitted to the CGIAR Consortium Board for further completion after collecting feedbacks from different partners across the globe.
