Hybrid Rice Training Center Launched in China

September 18, 2009

A training center that aims to help foreign technicians and government officials "acquire China's world-leading hybrid-rice cultivation technique" was launched officially in China last week. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has granted the Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co., a state owned company named after "the father of hybrid rice", approval to train foreign agriculturists.

Wu Yueshi, the company's chairman, believes that the recognition from the ministry would boost the company's efforts in training skilled technicians from all over the world and in turn help in the fight against hunger. The company has recently concluded a training course which was attended by participants from West African countries such as Guinea-Bissau and Liberia.
