APHIS' Web-based System Biotech Compliance Component

November 28, 2008

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has a new web-based biotechnology compliance component to its ePermits system. This will allow the agency to initiate, process and track compliance inspections for the field testing of regulated genetically engineered organisms. Individuals can process permit applications on-line and track permits. It is now possible for APHIS to easily identify, track and resolve potential problem areas and compliance incidents.
